Challenge for Super & Micro-Fine Foil

In 1968, TOHAKU first reached a micro-fine foil production and launched a commercial production of 0.003mm copper foil by automatic reverse cold rolling mill designed by SUNDWIG (20-high, German), which still works at Chiba plant.
Since then, TOHAKU technology always stands more precise, more uniform and more wide to meet industrial requirements, who need a specialized metal foils.
TOHAKU has spent 30 years for researching and developing products in various industries, in other words, TOHAKU micro-fine technology has been developed and established by various requirements by many customers.

More precise, More uniform and then More wide
TOHAKU is scarce and unique manufacturer in the cold rolling who started with micro-fine foil production and has come to increase the thickness in order to meet the market requirements. The market has not been same and requirements have changed. We believe that TOHAKU micro-fine technology has been changed enhanced by those changes in preciseness and uniformity of surface structures always upgraded.

Chiba plant where we produce the cold rolling foil with various kind of metals such as stainless steel, copper and copper alloy, nickel and nickel alloy, rare metals i.e. titanium, tantalum, molybdenum and etc. Thickness is min. 0.003mm with max. width of 130mm and over 0.03mm thickness, 210mm is max width.

Akita plant, where we produce 530mm width foil as commercially available size and solved all requirements in width. It is KST 20-high, fully automatic reverse cold rolling mill reduction to 0.01mm thickness for stainless steel. The 530mm is very important width for the photo-etching industries especially for hard disc drive industries. TOHAKU know-how made it possible a perfect precise and high uniformity of surface structure of metals over 530mm width.

Surface conductivity
The third advantage of TOHAKU is the surface treatment to increase conductivity.
Niigata plant plates gold and silver either stripes or all over onto min. 0.03mm thickness stainless steel or copper alloys. These essential electro-plating process assure the quality control for the conductive parts and circuit board for handy phone.

Cutting and Slitting
TOHAKU slitting technology offers you the precise slitting of materials following to the excellent cold rolling process. Preciseness reaches +/- 0.05mm thickness for min. width of 0.8mm strip. It is inclusive any type of metal from extra hard stainless steel to very soft copper, nickel or even extreme fragile of amorphous.
